Matt Short is the research and analysis lead for Internet of Things (IOT) solutions within the Transformative Technology team at IHS Markit. As a Transformative Technologies lead, his role is to offer insights, data and strategic assistance to companies in their efforts to develop individual growth strategies, market-entry plans and competitive analysis in the disruptive world of IOT across different industries and levels in the supply chain. He has over 20 years of experience in applications engineering, systems engineering, systems architecture and product and segment marketing.
Previously, he was a senior product line manager focused on storage for NXP’s Digital Networking business. Matt Short worked with key players in the industry to develop innovative new solutions. He has been a key figure in developing processors ranging from PowerQUICC I, the QorIQ PowerPC family of communications processors, Layerscape ARM based processors as well as specialty security ASSPs. As a customer liaison for Motorola, Freescale and NXP, he focused on a wide breadth of applications such as IOT and industrial, storage and datacenter, networking and communications, as well as security. He was the executive sponsor for NXP for the Multicore for Avionics working group that helped avionics companies achieve FAA and EASA certification and spent several years co-chairing that group.
He holds BSEE and MSEE degrees from the University of Texas, US.
