Nigel is a specialist in cybersecurity and business risk with nearly 30 years’ experience in the IT industry.  He is a well-recognised thought leader and subject matter expert capable of delivering complex cybersecurity projects across small, medium and large scale enterprises. He is Chief Technology Officer for the TÜV Rheinland Global OT Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence, part of the $2bn technical services company that operates across multiple industrial and operational technology sectors including oil, gas, nuclear, transportation and autonomous systems.

Nigel has in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity, information security, business risk, threat intelligence, cyber warfare, cyber terrorism, systems engineering, SCADA and industrial control systems (and applying standards such as IEC 62443 across these domains.) In addition he has have significant radio, mechanical and electronic engineering experience.

Nigel has written three books on database and development technologies and is a regular speaker at international events and conferences. He is able to passionately bring his technical knowledge together with his practical experience of OT cybersecurity and business to help clients derive real business benefit. His work in operational technology cybersecurity includes SCADA and industrial automation/robotics, control systems and applying standards across these domains to achieve safety and security objectives.

Nigel is a Chartered Engineer and member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (where he is a professional registration interviewer), Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the British Computer Society.

He has an MSc in Information Security from Royal Holloway, University of London where he was awarded the Royal Holloway University Smart Card Centre Crisp Telecom prize for his MSc research dissertation into mobile radio systems security and smartphones.
